Two Resource Highlights: a Timeline Notebook to Study Catholic History in the 14th Century and an easy to print Academic Diary

Are you prepping for next year?  We are too, and I thought that these resources shared by Shell of Thinking Love, No Twaddle blog might be useful as you think about your needs and requirements for next year.  

St. Francis of Assisi reminded us to preach the Gospel at all times and to use words when necessary.   Perhaps you may be like me and need of some words to help you remember historical facts and especially those events dealing with the Catholic Church.  You can download and incorporate a five-page resource to create a 14th Century Timeline Notebook.  This resource offers a peek at key events of the 1300s. It begins with the 1300 Jubilee year when coins of Florence were accepted as first International currency and ends with the death of Death of Bl. Raymond of Capua in 1399. Catholic events are highlighted in blue, and space has been left to write about additional events of the 14th century. 


The second resource shared by Shell today is an Academic Diary for 2012-2013.  This 24 page printable resource can be printed single or double sided and can be the simple help you need to keep track of events in the church calendar, the liturgical year and, of course, your own daily or weekly activities.  The calendar runs from September 2012-August 2013.  The accompanying diary pages are laid out with a simple design allowing for lines and spaces and some poetic inspiration.

Hands-On Literature and Reading Notebooking Pages

Interactive notebooking pages can help children keep track of what they read and their thoughts about it.

This eight-page download lovingly created by Shell from Thinking Love, No Twaddle blog is designed to help children track what they read or audio books they listen to by using notebooking sheets with distinct sections as well as illustrations of book covers.

Space has been left to glue in book cover pieces.  Some titles are included in this educational download to get you started. Art loving learners could also draw in their own version of book covers, the author, or even a favorite scene from the book.

This is a very tangible and fun way to track reading progress for a variety of subjects like religion, science, history, or nature study.

19th Century Timeline Notebook Gives a Great Catholic Perspective of the 1800s

Examine the events of history with this 19th Century Timeline Notebook lovingly created by Shell of Thinking Love, No Twaddle Blog. The nine-page resource serves to share world history as well as Catholic events from the 1800s with a running list of historical events - including the birth or death of specific saints, apparitions from our Blessed Mother, and more.

There are some very neat features in this resource.

-Spaces are available to create your own little notebook area to add additional events of the time period.
-Catholic events are highlighted in blue.
-Beautiful artwork is used in the backgrounds of many of the pages.
-A blank page is included for other events you may want to include immediately before or after the 19th Century.

This could serve as a wonderful addition to any history study or program.

Let This Lenten Maze Mix-up Your Mid-Week

Puzzles are a great way to learn about different subject topics while developing strategies and skills to increase one's problem-solving ability, but probably the best reason to do puzzles is because they are fun.   

For a little faith-filled mid-week fun tomorrow, why not have the kiddos give their problem-solving skills a workout with this beautiful Lenten maze that CeAnne at Sanctus Simplicitus just contributed?    This maze asks kids to help Jesus carry the cross to Easter Day. It is bright and very nice. It's just a quick way to mix up your Wednesday homeschooling lessons or CCD class!

Do You Know Your Rites?

The question of knowledge of Rites of the Catholic Church is a very interesting one posed by Shell of Thinking Love, No Twaddle blog.  I must confess that I have much to learn in this department, and my guess is that many other Catholics do to. 

To help us become more familiar with the Rites and help us commit them to memory, Shell has created these little flashcards on the Rites of the Catholic Faith.  These can be used in any number of ways.

•Print them out and use them as standard flash cards.
•Print out two sets and use them to play matching games.
•Use two sets to play Go Fish style games.
•Call out one part and require the other player(s) to provide the corresponding info.
•Print out pieces, cut apart and place in a fish bowl or container.  Pull one card weekly, and look up the info as part of your religion or Faith lessons.  This could develope into a great family sharing time.
