Lenten Prayer Project Helps Keep Us Focused During the Season.

Use this daily Lenten Prayer Project for special intentions during the 40-day season of Lent. Intentions can be for family members, friends, your priest, ministry workers, the ill, departed loved ones, needs of the world - just about anything you feel needs specific prayer.

The project spans the entire season of Lent, however, it can be started after Ash Wednesday and used for the remaining portion of the time. It requires a special intention be picked everyday and written on the prayer pieces provided. (Drawing and affixing pictures or photographs are fine alternatives to writing as well.) Pieces are then posted on a bulletin or mantle piece, and a decade of the Rosary is prayed and offered for the specified intention. A progress chart is also included for daily use, if desired.

Expect to find in this project file a convenient instruction sheet that also reminds one how to say a decade of the Rosary, daily progress sheet and 42 prayer pieces (forty plus two spares.)

This project is simple and requires only a few minutes a day to complete; however, the rewards will be great as we help others and prepare our hearts for our Lord's Resurrection.

Little Lesson on the Council of Nicaea and the Creed

Little Lesson from Michelle over at Thinking Love, No Twaddle blog helps young Christians learn about the Council, the Creed, and what they actually stand for.

This Little Lesson is not little at all - it is 58 pages. Filled with great text, lots of info to ponder and many engaging F3 or lapbook style pieces, this resource is perfect for your family and is sure to be enjoyed on some level by any aged student. Look for lots of classic artwork, heroic evidence of many saints and martyrs, and tons of factual finds.

There are many interesting and captivating features, including mini-timeline, beautiful notebooking sheets, maps, prayers, a crossword puzzle and my favorite, the Pitfall Alert, which features the truth of often thought misconceptions of the faith.

This resource is designed to be printed double-sided although the pages which require cutting feature a blank back-side to help conserve paper and avoid frustration.

This is well worth the read and promises to be fun and engaging.

Resources to Help Celebrate the Feast of St. Francis de Sales

This Month, Celebrate the Feast Day of One of the Most Beloved Doctors of the Catholic Church. 

Perhaps one of my favorite saints is St. Francis de Sales.  Born in 1567 of French decent, he became Bishop of Geneva and was raised to the status of Doctor of the Catholic Church.  He was given the distinction of Doctor Caritatis (Doctor of Charity) and once you learn more about his life, you will easily see why this man was so well received, loved and admired for his contribution to the advancement of our wonderful and rich Faith.

This saint holds a special place in my heart not because he was a Doctor of the Catholic Church, nor because he is the patron of writers or journalists, developed a sign-language to communicate with, evangelize to and instruct the deaf or even because he made extensive use of flyers and books in his teaching of the Catholic Faith to others. I love him simply because he is, in my opinion, one of the best and most eloquent authors of works on the topic of spiritual direction and spiritual formation.  (St. Alphonsus Liguori is also a beautiful heartfelt writer too.)  Perhaps St. Francis' most famous work, received so very well by many Christians and Catholics, was Philothea also called Introduction to the Devout Life.  Written in 1608 by the talented saint, it is a must read for every Christian.

St. Francis de Sales copywork features a quote from the saint in a simple copywork format that even the littlest learners can use.

St. Francis de Sales Printable Saint Trading cards come four to a sheet and give a bit of info of this saint and one of his famous quotes.  It is a nice simple card for new readers and collectors.

St. Francis de Sales Mini-Book is a small eight page booklet that kiddos can easily make.  It is a prompted book which asks writers to list some basic biographical info about this saint.  Younger learners can draw many of the answers.  This is always a fun activity for children whether they are new or veteran writers.
